ava: During COVID I would wear a hoodie and sweatpants to zoom classes. I also had a lot of free time. So I spent that sewing and creating clothes and finding a new love for fashion. this is one of the dresses I made.
Now, I love getting ready in the morning to go to school and hang to out with friends. I appreciate it more. I know it sounds corny. I appreciate those times when I can get ready, be with friends or just go on a walk. fashion has helped me create for the times I so appreciate.
esc: How would you describe your style?
Ava: I don't know, I like all the clothing from the 90s, but it changes every day.
esc: Where do you get your inspiration? Is there a person you look to or do you just trust yourself?
Ava: I just kind of wear whatever I like at that moment. my friends are very, very different. Like one of my friends, she's very out there, like a hippie, kind of a 70s crazy. Another friend, is more of a minimalist. everyone in my friend group is kind of different. So it's fun to pull from each.

esc: Do you think dressing is more of a creative process or a self-confident process or, "Oh, God I want to fit in"
Syd: I mean I feel like going to high school is hard to not worry about what other people will think, but I really like just being creative. Having a way to show myself without having to talk or anything.
esc: I know you love to go thrifting, can you show me your latest find?
Syd: I found this formal dress.
esc: I love it. So what do you think you’ll do with this?
Syd: I think I may wear it to prom this year. I need to sew it and take it in because it's a little too big. There is also a piece that trails off and I’m not too sure what to do with it
esc: I think you should put it on… Syd: Right now?
