Carla: Back in 2012, I spent three months in Paris, on the second to the last day that I was leaving I was basically out of money. But I went to a flea market anyway. I mean, the flea market  was ginormous and I loved everything there. i saw this, and was just like, oh, my God! I didn't have any money and the guy who owned the booth offered a little bit of a deal but I couldn’t afford it.

Esc: what was this used for?

Carla: It's a love letter thing, to seal a love letter with a wax stamp

Esc:  SO how did this wind up becoming yours?

Carla:  Oh, so then I went back three years later.

Esc: Three years later, and there's money in your pocket.

Carla:  Yes and I went looking for him and the round Intaglia. I noticed that the flea market was going and I was just like, oh, my God, do you think I could find it ? There was a long row of stalls and there he was, really tall dude, probably Danish or something, you know, bright white hair. And I was like, oh, my God, there’s the dude.

esc: I am getting the chills

carla: My heart was pounding ,”Oh, there it is.” He was sitting down and I just sat right down by him and I was like, Do you remember me ? And he said, “No!”And I told him, I saw this three years ago. He said,”Than it must be yours.”

Esc: It's like a talisman signifying everything happens in due time.

Carla: Also, how much I super appreciate it. I mean I want it because it's so cool but I super appreciate what it is.

Esc: It's crazy to think how many hands had touched this between your first time and the three years later. to think no one bought it.

“I've spent a lot of money on gems instead of paying my bills and buying groceries.
It’s fucking awesome to be a maker” — Carla
